How is Dianna Agron so pretty? Seriously, it's ridiculous.

Also, on a shallower note, I really love Finn's sweater in "Keep Holding On". Like, really.

One thing I've noticed about the earlier episodes is that they're not as bad as I thought they were when I first watched them. Maybe it's because now I can see that they did have some semblance of where the show was going, or things that it was going to do with the characters (like Tina's fake lisp), but it wasn't apparent until the end of the half-season. And the stuff that they did from episode to episode was way too rushed and didn't feel appropriate. It actually holds up more when you go back, which is strange for a show.

I think a lot of it is also I hated some of their song choices (mostly because I haven't listened to anything on the radio since 2005), so I was always waiting for that great Broadway number, and there weren't any for a number of episodes. I'm not a fan of "Keep Holding On", but in general I loved the numbers in "Throwdown," my favorite being a tie between "Hate On Me" (it grew on me a lot) and "Keep Me Hanging On" (since I'm a full supporter of Quinn/Motown).

Another thing I started noticing is ties between the songs in each episode (Keep Holding On/Keep Me Hanging On, both versions of Smile) which I REALLY enjoy, because I do that all the time. Although some song choices still baffle me (why have that "Crush" song when it could have been Mandy Moore's "Crush On You"?). It may have to do with legal things, but...yeah, I don't care.

At least Glee won. It was basically the only reason I was watching, since I don't put much stock in awards shows. I just kind of wanted to see them.

For all the friends I may or may not make (I'm still waiting to hear back from some of you), howdy! I'm kind of just getting back to posting on LJ since Twitter took over my life, but I've been here for a while. My profile says a lot about my favorite movies, shows and people men. I'm currently in a musical phase, which means lots of Glee, Mickey Rooney/Judy Garland pictures and humming while I walk. Enjoy it, one day I'll go back to comics book heroes and wanting to see things blown up.

I went to see "Princess and the Frog" today, and, well. ( Okay. )

A toilet story

So today I was at a restaurant and had to go to the restroom. There was a line of 3-4 people and it was pretty smelly in there but I really really had to pee so I got in the end of the line after immediately leaving once due to overwhelming pooroma. All 3 stalls seemed to be permanently occupado while one of them was emitting howly baby crying noises. It was pretty much hell.

Space was tight so I was waiting close to the door at what I guesstimated was out of the swing zone. The door burst open suddenly and got pretty close but just barely missed slamming me in the face. A little old lady about in her 80s slowly walked in. She was making some groany noises and was audibly panting. Lomg.

She walked in and slowly bent over to pick up a used paper towel from the floor and threw it away, then got in line. Right away that made me feel guilty bc even though I didn't throw the paper there, I didn't pick it up when I walked in either. She made some small talk with a kid who was waiting for her mom to come out of a stall and also asked me the time. Then she announced loudly, WHAT'S GOING ON IN THERE?? Judging from the length of time since anyone had left a stall and the claustrophobic smell, I figured it was pretty obvious what indeed was "going on in there" but I just shrugged and kept waiting.

By this point, I was second in line and had already decided to let the old lady go ahead of me once a stall opened up. She was panting pretty hard and kept groaning like Montezuma was her lord and master.

Finally two stalls opened up at once and the girl ahead of me took one. I asked the old lady if she wanted a cut. She said she was okay and I told her she should go first but she said she could wait. Lady was panting and going "ow ow ow" but I offered twice and she declined twice so it was on her if she messed herself now. I got in the stall and heard her pain noises and panting go even louder and was about to exit the stall and offer again but I heard a flush next to me so I figured she would get a toilet soon. Meh.

As I was washing my hands, I heard some "ow ow" noises coming near me lmfao it was the little old lady again. I guess I shouldn't have assumed she was having diarrhea cramps or whatever and was just generally in pain. It just sucks to be old I guess.

NONSPOILERY REVIEWS

AVATAR - very awesome to look at. I'm sure all that alien world stuff took forever and a gajillion dollahs to render. The thing that impressed me the most was how much Sam Worthington looked like Castiel from SPN after his hair and scruff grew out a bit. OMFG WOULD WATCH AGAIN JUST FOR THAT. 3 hours is a little butt numbing though. Could use a trim.

SHERLOCK HOLMES - needs moar RDJ/Jude Law action and less of everthing else. I fell asleep for short spells a few times and was angry to see non-Holmes/Watson scenes on the screen. Someone take a pair of scissors to this movie plz

NINE - smelled, sounded and quacked like a Baz Lurhman film but wasn't nearly as satisfying. For all the trumped up big names, kind of underwhelming except for Marion Cotillard.

THE BLIND SIDE - omg I love sandra bullock. Kind of "white man's burdeny" but it was pretty effective in what it did and showing that dude's path out of the ghetto. I can see why people have been spreading good word of mouth about this movie and propelling it to $$$$$-making status.

INVICTUS - this movie wasn't my choice to watch. I'm not a giant fan of recent history dramas and the most familiar thing about rugby is the shirts. But still, Clint Eastwood is the mofo man. Dude knows how to tell a good story. Bonus pts to Matt Damon for being a hunky piece of ass in this with his 30+ lbs of extra muscle.

ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS SQUEAKQUEL - lol I totally watched this for the Zac Levi/"Chuck" content. Zac was listed first in the cast but that's prolly bc he dint cost the producers 1000 man hours for every 3 seconds of screentime. I enjoyed the fart joke.

IT'S COMPLICATED - I thought Alec Baldwin and John Krasinski were both adorable in this but omfg I was totally not the target audience for this movie. I could tell that bc whole rows of older ladies were audibly crying and blowing their noses and crap at the end and I was listening to them and going wtfffff. This was like a Harlequin romance movie for the hot flash set. I liked Meryl Streep better in "Julie and Julia" or "Devil Wears Prada."

UP IN THE AIR - George Clooney in every scene for 100 minutes? Hellz yes. That it's also a good movie doesn't hurt either.

I saw an insane number of trailers before each of these movies and there is a shitload of sucky movies coming out soon. Like, why does the Clash of the Titans remake look to be a humorless POS when the original was so campy and awesome? There does not appear to be a corresponding severed talking Maggie Smith head to be found anywhere! Efffff that.* The Percy Jackson greek god movie is probably a better match.

*i will probs watch it anyway bc my new movie bf, taller hunkier movie Cass is in it but still. "Gladiator" meets "300" version of "Clash of the Titans" sounds like a suckfest, y'all.
